This little girl was a badly infected burn victim, sent to us from the local hospital as they did not have the means to care for her. Her mother was so ashamed that she had fallen in the fire she ran away and only the dad was left to care for her. In Uganda it is the family that has to take care of the patient in most of the hospitals so that was an impossible task for the dad. When her legalities for admission to Welcome Home were done we were able to send her to International Hospital in Kampala with one of our staff to care for her. They put her on IV antibiotics and were able then to perform skin grafts to her back. The good news is she was able to be restored home to her family who were poor. A friend of ours helped with a small business loan and pharmacy schooling for the dad.
